City of Leeds - Reward System

The reward system is designed to work alongside the behaviour system and will encourage a positive attitude and work ethos within our school.

Rewards range from instant verbal praise within the classroom through a system which will enable a record to be kept on each individual child, chartinbg there progress from year 7 through to year 11.

The rewards system will operate in the following way using a series of rewards offered for a variety of reasons including effort and achievement both in and outside the classroom.

R1One stamp is issued and verbal praise given.Students who are helpful around the school in a variety of ways may be awarded rewards in recognition of their help and to encourage a spirit of co-operation.
R2Two stamps are issued and verbal praise given.
R3Three stamps are issued, R3 slip issued and comment in planner.

Rewards

The School has a rewards shop from which students can purchase a variety of items with completed stamp cards. Trips are organised at the end of each term to reward pupils who constantly work and behave well.

R4Four stamps issued, R4 slip issued and a department postcard to be sent home.Records will be kept of all R3,4,5,&6 slips issued, along with certificates and letters of congratulations. These will all form part of the progress file which will support job and/or college applications in year 11.
R5Twenty stamps are issued, silver R5 slip issued, department certificate to be held in student progress file.
R6Twenty stamps are issued, gold R6 slip issued, department certificate and a personal letter home from the Headteacher.

The top ten students in each year group are entered into a prize draw each half term. From these will be chosen a student of the year for each year group and will recieve a substansial prize in addition to a special award presented at our annual awards evening.

Pupils who show exceptional effort or achievement will be nominated by their Head of Year to have breakfast with the Headteacher.

City of Leeds - Behaviour System

Unacceptable pupil behaviour, whether low level or extreme, is very challenging for the staff and pupils who come into contact with it.

Any pupil behaviour which disrupts or impacts on the learning of other pupils and the health, saftey and discipline with the school is unacceptable. This includes low level disruptive behaviour as well as bullying, racial harassment and incidents of verbal or physical abuse

The behaviour system at City of Leeds School will be aimed at challenging unacceptable behaviour and supporting the learning of others

The system will operate in the following way using a series of consequences awarded for unnaceptable behaviour.

C1First warning Name of student is written on boardStudents 'in the wrong place' will be challenged and, if possible taken back to their lesson. Refusal to co-operate will immediately qualify them for a C3.

Inclusion Options

The school has a range of options that may be employed at any point from C4 onwards as supportive mechanisms to aid the progress of individuals while minimising disruption to lessons.

C4Student is sent to Time Out and recieves an automatic letter home at the end of the week.Any student 'in the wrong place' may follow the consequence trail from C4-C6
Should the student misbehave in Time Out then...
C5the student recieves a one-hour school detention and a letter warning of the sanction should the detention be ignored.
Should the student continue to misbehave or fail to attend the detention then...
C6the student shall recieve a half day exclusion. The student will still need to complete the detention to avoid further sanctions
At any time a severe clause may result in...
C7the student recieving a fixed-term exclusion from the HeadteacherOnly the Headteacher has the authority to issue FT exclusions
