Primrose High School was built in 1965, initially extended in 1992 and then again in 1996.
In September 2006 we opened in a brand new building on the former site of Shakespeare Primary School. This is a campus with both Primrose and Shakespeare on the same site. It provides "state of the art" facilities for students about to start at Primrose.
In September 2005, Primrose joined City of Leeds School to form The Central Leeds Learning Federation, which is led by an Executive Head Teacher, Ms L Talmadge. The forming of the Federation allows both schools to work together and offer courses jointly, which could be based at either school. At present, this mostly involves older students, but in the future all year groups could be involved.
We are a well-disciplined, yet friendly school where great importance is placed upon manners, behaviour, appearance and most importantly, respect for others and oneself. The development of good relationships between students, parents and teachers is encouraged at all times.
The Leadership and Management is providing a clear direction for the school, with a firm commitment to raising standards
OFSTED 2006
Primrose High School is a truly international school with students from many different backgrounds. This rich culture is the strength of the school. Every student is expected to work hard and is given the opportunity to study a wide range of subjects including GCSEs, vocational courses and Advanced level courses. These studies are undertaken with the guidance of a committed, well-qualified and experienced teaching staff.
In October 2000 and March 2006 we were visited by a team of OFSTED inspectors. Both proved successful inspections and we were seen to be a good school. During the last 2 years Education Leeds data highlighted that Primrose was the best school in Leeds for adding value between Key Stage 3 and 4.
Parents are welcome to visit school at any time during normal school hours. A telephone call or a note would be appreciated so that we can make sure that we are available to greet you. If you have any questions or points you wish to make, please do not hesitate to contact me at school. I look forward to meeting you in the near future.
Mrs T Bowden Head of School
