Tutor Set System

Students are placed in a tutor set of approximately 25 students. All students will be part of a year group, with their own Head of Year/Student Progress Leader and Pastoral Assistant, based in a Year office. The Form tutor is responsible for the day-to-day welfare and progress of students in their tutor set. Each Head of Year/Student Progress Leader has overall responsibility for the welfare of all students in their year. Any questions you may have about your child's welfare should be directed in the first instance to the Head of Year/Student Progress Leader for the year your child is in.

Discipline

Discipline in school is strict but fair. We insist on good behaviour, good manners, decent appearance and hard work. For any infringements, warnings are used as part of our Positive Behaviour for Learning system. If a student gets 3 written warnings in a subject we also set detentions, for which 24hrs written notice is given. More serious sanctions include the use of daily reports and isolation. If a student has to be removed from a lesson due to poor behaviour a letter is sent home and a detention is given. Fixed term exclusions are used as a last resort.

Bullying

School has a firm and clear policy to counter any bullying. This is stated in the Student Planner and every student knows how to respond should any bullying be suspected. If you have any concerns about Bullying do not hesitate to contact your child's Head of Year/Student Progress Leader immediately.

The school works relentlessly to eradicate any elements of bullying or racism, and this contributes to a harmonious atmosphere around the school
